St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach paver sealing has to account for coastal moisture, salt air, irrigation staining, shade, pool-deck traction and old sealer history before a new coat goes down. The housing stock complicates it in a good way: Old Northeast and Historic Kenwood have brick, clay and mixed-material hardscape that predates modern pavers, while Snell Isle and Shore Acres bring waterfront moisture and drainage quirks, and the city's reclaimed irrigation feeds algae lines wherever spray lands. We identify material and moisture conditions street by street before talking product.
Paver sealing is not a one-product job. We start by checking the paver material, age, exposed aggregate, porosity, existing sealer, joint condition and drainage. We splash water on the surface and watch how the color changes and how quickly it absorbs. That tells us whether the pavers are still protected, ready for maintenance, or need restoration before another coat goes down.
The sand and sealer plan depends on the surface. On a standard concrete paver project, we remove loose or contaminated joint material and install ASTM C144 joint sand in the color selected for the project. Polymeric sand is a separate option for unusually wide joints or sand-only scopes where it makes sense. For sealing, we match the product and coat system to the paver type, porosity, old coating and finish the homeowner wants. That may be a penetrating system, flood coats, a top coat, or a stone-specific product. We do not force one sealer onto every surface.

Shore Acres and other low-lying streets hold water after summer storms and king tides. We check where water sits on the surface, because sealing a paver run that ponds regularly needs product and expectation adjustments.
St. Pete's reclaimed irrigation keeps yards green and feeds algae exactly where spray crosses pavers. Those bands get their own pre-treatment so they do not ghost back through the finish.
St. Pete sealing works best October through May, when we can trust multi-day dry stretches; summer sea-breeze storms build over the peninsula almost daily. Low-lying streets deserve extra caution in the king-tide months of fall, we will not seal a surface that is still wicking last week's water. Book waterfront work early in the dry season for the easiest scheduling.
